Sidcup Teacher Paul Clifton Jailed for Grooming and Abuse
Paul Clifton, 55, a former English teacher from Sidcup, has been sentenced to five years behind bars for sexually abusing two underage girls. The predator first targeted a 16-year-old pupil at an East London school in 2006. Over a decade later, in 2017, he abused another girl, aged 15, at a Surrey school.
Clifton cunningly won the girls’ trust with gifts and attention before coercing them into long-term sexual relationships. One victim said, “Asking how this impacts my life is like asking someone how they breathe… The defendant robbed that from me.” Another revealed Clifton sent her direct messages in her twenties that triggered panic attacks. He pleaded guilty to nine child sex offences.
Croydon Murder: Justin Henry Found in Car Boot
Lewis Benjamin, 20, and Jamal Ali-Richards, 19, were locked up over the manslaughter of 34-year-old Justin Henry in Croydon. Justin went missing in October 2023 after a night out. CCTV showed him stopping at McDonald’s before heading to Waddon New Road. His body was later found in a car boot on Kingswood Drive, 19 minutes away.
Police uncovered bloodstains at Benjamin’s flat, which had been stripped bare. Benjamin received 20 years, while Ali-Richards was handed eight and a half years.
Drone Drug Gang Busted—Smugglers Sentenced
Bradley Scott, 27, and Jevonte White, 18, from Thornton Heath used drones to fly drugs, weapons, and phones into prisons across the UK. They carried out 105 drone drops at 17 prisons, cleverly hiding contraband inside drink cartons.
Scott was jailed for six years, but White got a suspended sentence. Detective Ian Bradshaw said the smuggling fuels debts and violence, putting both staff and inmates at serious risk.
Croydon Rapist Osama Alkhair Locked Up
Osama Alkhair, 37, was sentenced to seven years and four months after attempting to rape an unconscious woman in Croydon. The attack on December 29, 2023, was interrupted. Judge Tony Hyams-Parish warned Alkhair would be deported after serving two-thirds of his sentence.

Shoplifter Wesley Maughan Jailed for £34K Theft Spree
Wesley Maughan, 25, stole over £34,000 worth of stock from Boots stores in Banstead and Coulsdon, along with other shops across Surrey, London, Buckinghamshire, and Kent. CCTV footage caught him filling bags and walking out without paying.
He was arrested at Harwich Port trying to flee using a fake ID. Maughan pleaded guilty to 13 counts of shop theft and was jailed for 22 months.
