Quick-thinking Gillingham Special Constables nab man with knife near train station

At 3.10pm on Sunday 18 January 2026, a sharp-eyed member of the public stopped officers patrolling Gillingham town centre. They reported spotting a man carrying a knife close to the train station.
Suspect Caught Red-Handed
Acting swiftly, officers searched nearby alleys and arrested 21-year-old Tommy Chapman from Priestfield Road. Along with the sizeable knife, a stash of cannabis was found and seized on the spot.
Charges Filed Ahead of Court Date
Chapman now faces charges for possession of a knife in a public place and possession of a class B drug. He has been bailed and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 5 March 2026.
