Three Charged Over Shocking Tunbridge Wells Robbery

Three suspects have been charged after two men were robbed in broad daylight in Tunbridge Wells.

Victims Threatened and Stripped of Valuables

On Thursday 24 September 2020, around 8.40pm, a group approached two men in Merrion Way. The victims were threatened before having a jacket, bag, and rings stolen from them.

Police Act Fast, Make Early Morning Arrests

Kent Police launched a swift investigation and arrested an 18-year-old man and two 17-year-old boys in the early hours of Friday 25 September.

Robbery and Knife Charges Filed

  • Leon Makoni, 18, from Grange Road, Tunbridge Wells, faces two counts of robbery and possession of a knife.
  • Two 17-year-old boys have also been charged with the same offences.

Makoni has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 26 September. The two teenagers will face Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 26 October and 23 November respectively.
