Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Sister in South London Stabbing

Andrew Cunningham, 62, has admitted manslaughter after fatally stabbing his sister in a shocking South London attack. His confession came during the very first day of his Old Bailey trial.

Sister Dies After Stabbing at Greenland Quay

Police rushed to a home on Greenland Quay, near Surrey Quays station, just before 3pm on Friday, November 29, 2024. Margaret Cunningham, 57, was found with fatal stab wounds. She was taken to hospital but sadly died later that evening.

Andrew Cunningham, who lived at the same address, was arrested nearby in Rotherhithe and charged with her murder.

Plea Shift Stuns Court

In a surprising twist, Cunningham appeared via video-link at the Old Bailey on Monday. He denied murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter, claiming diminished responsibility.
