A man has been charged after a brutal attack on a police officer in Rochester. The officer suffered head injuries but has now been discharged from hospital.
Early Morning Assault Shocks Rochester
Just after 1.30am on Sunday, 28 September 2025, police on patrol spotted suspicious activity near a car park on Rochester High Street. When officers moved in, a man tried to flee the scene. In the chaotic confrontation, one officer was struck and sustained head injuries.
Drugs and Cash Found at Crime Scene
The suspect was quickly arrested. Police discovered cocaine and cash at the scene, pointing to possible drug dealing.
Maurice Lennon Hit with Multiple Charges
29-year-old Maurice Lennon, who has no fixed address, faces serious charges including actual bodily harm, possession of cocaine with intent to supply, and obstructing a police officer. Lennon appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 29 September and was remanded in custody.
He is set to stand trial at Crown Court on Monday, 27 October 2025.
