A man caught producing steroids at home and firing a BB gun during a violent showdown has been locked up for two and a half years.
James Richardson Caught After BB Gun Assault
James Richardson, 32, formerly of Seawall, Dymchurch, was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on October 27, 2023. Following a Folkestone CID probe, he admitted to possessing an imitation firearm with intent to scare, producing a class C drug, and possessing cannabis.
Incident Details: BB Gun Fired at Victim’s Face
Kent Police were called to a Brookland address on April 6 after a man reported being threatened and fired at with a handgun. The victim said Richardson asked for his name before firing the weapon at his face. Luckily, the victim raised his hand, taking the hit from the ball bearings.
Richardson then fled in a white Mercedes. Police linked the car to him and arrested him two days later at his home.
Police Find Steroid Ingredients and Cannabis
Officers discovered a stash of steroid-making ingredients and a small amount of cannabis at Richardson’s residence. They also found a photo on his phone of a BB gun matching the one used in the attack. Richardson’s injuries matched the victim’s account of the incident.
Detective Constable Adele Couchman said: “This sudden and shocking attack with an imitation handgun terrified the victim. Thanks to his quick thinking noting the car details, we tracked down Richardson swiftly.”
“He’s now off the streets of Romney Marsh. I urge anyone who suspects drug production in their area to report it so we can take action.”
