Man Charged with Murder Near Brentwood Primary School
John Moore, 38, from Ingrave Road, Brentwood, has been charged with murder after a deadly assault just 300 metres from Hogarth Primary School. The shocking attack happened on Thursday afternoon, shortly after 3.30pm.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Police and emergency crews, including the air ambulance, raced to the scene where the victim, a man, was sadly declared dead. Moore was arrested within an hour and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning. He has been remanded in custody and is due back at Basildon Crown Court on Tuesday for plea and trial preparations.
Community in Shock as Police Maintain ‘No Ongoing Threat’
The assault took place moments after the school day ended, leaving locals shaken. A police cordon remains in place on Ingrave Road, with floral tributes laid at the scene over the weekend.
Detective Inspector Lisa Hurrell said: “Our officers responded very quickly, and we are confident there is no ongoing threat to the wider community in Brentwood.”

The victim’s family has been informed and is receiving specialist support. Essex Police continue their investigations and are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV from the area to contact them.
