Convicted Burglar Escapes Prison – Sussex Police on High Alert
Sussex Police are in full scramble mode after William Wenham, 47, was accidentally released from HMP Rochester on Tuesday, 3 June. Wenham, serving a two-year jail term for burglary and still facing trial for aggravated burglary, is now unlawfully at large.
Burglary Offender Erroneously Freed
Wenham was convicted of burglary with intent to steal at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday, 3 October 2025. Despite this, he was due to stand trial for a more serious charge of aggravated burglary but slipped through the cracks when mistakenly set free, sparking urgent police action.

The fugitive has ties across multiple hotspots, including:

Police are scouring these areas and nearby locales in a race to catch him.
