Jonathan Quinnell, 62, was caught red-handed by paedophile hunters after sending vile messages to what he believed was a child’s online account. The former Orpington man, now living near Reading, arranged to meet and sickeningly discussed sexually assaulting and raping the “girl.”
Decoy Account Snags Twisted Predator
But Quinnell’s intended victim was actually a decoy run by vigilante paedophile hunters. They confronted him on December 20, 2023, shutting down his depraved plans. He was charged with attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming and attempting to communicate sexually with a child.
Pleads Guilty, Faces Prison Time
At Croydon Crown Court on January 5, Quinnell pleaded guilty to the shocking offences. Strikingly, he showed up without a legal team, blaming anxiety and stress for the delay. Judge Anthony Dunne OBE called it out.
“This is a very serious matter … likely consequence is a custodial sentence,” the judge warned. “You are in a position of some jeopardy.”
Sentencing was adjourned until February. Quinnell now has four weeks to get a lawyer – or face the consequences alone.
