Manhunt Underway for Murder Suspect After Brutal Essex Pub Stabbing
Essex Police are hunting Ryan Filby, 20, in connection with the shocking murder of Liam Taylor. Despite releasing two other men on bail, Filby remains at large as the investigation intensifies.
Targeted Attack Outside Writtle Pub
Liam Taylor, 19, was fatally stabbed outside the Rose and Crown pub in Writtle village at around 8pm on Friday. Police describe the stabbing as a targeted attack. A second 19-year-old victim was also stabbed but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Filby’s Whereabouts Unknown – Police Fear He May Have Fled
Filby is from Chelmsford but has known links to Braintree and Witham. Officers caution he might have travelled outside Essex since the attack.
Police Step Up Patrols Amid Public Concern
- Increased patrols and stop-and-search powers are in force on Melbourne and Springfield estates in Chelmsford.
- These measures will remain active until mid-afternoon today as police hunt the suspect.
An 18-year-old and a 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder have been released on bail until 25 February.
