Two Men Hit with 14 Charges After Gravesend Burglary Spree

Car Stolen and Danger on the Roads

Kanie Russell and Dylan Monks, both 19, face 14 charges each after a spate of crimes in Gravesend and surrounding areas. The pair allegedly stole a car from a home in Thomas Drive, Gravesend, on 15 October 2020. The stolen car was then spotted being driven dangerously through Medway before being abandoned on Mierscourt Road, Rainham, later that same morning.

Series of Burglaries and More Car Thefts

Both men are also accused of attempting to burgle homes in Jellico Avenue and Northridge Road on the same day. In addition, Dylan Monks faces extra charges for a burglary in Downs Avenue, Dartford, on 7 October, where another car was stolen.

Arrests, Charges and Court Dates

The suspects were arrested on 27 October and charged immediately. Russell, of 1 Lane, Ilford, faces burglary, two attempted burglaries, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, and driving without insurance or a licence.

Monks, from Southbury Road, Enfield, was also charged with assaulting an emergency services worker during his arrest, alongside his burglary and aggravated vehicle taking charges.

Remand and Bail

Monks was remanded in custody after a Medway Magistrates’ Court hearing on 28 October and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 25 November. Russell has been released on bail and is set to appear at the same court on the same date.
