A family escaped without a scratch after a fire tore through their home on Church Hill late Saturday night. Firefighters from Freshwater and Newport rushed to the scene just before 11pm to tackle the blaze.
Fire Started in Dishwasher, Spread Quickly
The fire is believed to have started in a dishwasher before spreading to kitchen cupboards and other areas. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus stormed inside the property, using hose reels to beat down the flames and stop the fire from spreading further.
Quick Action Prevents Major Damage
Thanks to the swift response from the firefighters, the fire was contained to the kitchen, preventing any injuries and stopping the blaze from engulfing the entire house.
