Cashpoint Crooks Caught After High-Speed Chase
Three men have been locked up for a combined 15 years after trying to steal an ATM from a Co-op shop in a brazen daylight heist. The gang used a stolen JCB telehandler to rip the cash machine from the wall before dumping it into a stolen Transit van and making a run for it.
Chase Across Three Counties Ends in Capture
The thieves were tracked down following a thrilling police chase involving Hampshire Constabulary, Surrey Police, and the National Police Air Service helicopter. The pursuit spanned Hampshire, Surrey, and Sussex before officers arrested the trio. All three admitted conspiracy to burgle the cashpoint on May 7, 2019, at Headley Road, Liphook.
Jail Time for the Trio
- Joseph Beech, 46, from Guildford, got five years for conspiracy to burgle.
- Daniel Hilton, 33, of Liphook, received four and a half years for conspiracy to burgle plus six months for dangerous driving, as he was the getaway car driver in a BMW.
