A two-year-old girl died after being rushed to hospital with serious injuries, sparking a major police investigation.

On 27 May 2020, the toddler was admitted to a local hospital before being transferred to a London hospital, where she sadly passed away on 29 May.
Suspects Arrested as Police Launch Inquiry
Kent Police were alerted immediately, leading to the arrest of two people. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate took over the investigation.
Charged with Murder and Child Neglect
On 24 March 2023, following approval from the Crown Prosecution Service, Jan Gholami, 32, and Roqia Ghulami, 31, both with no fixed address, were charged with murder, causing or allowing a child’s death, and child neglect.
Court Appearances Underway
The pair appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 25 March 2023 and were remanded to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 28 March 2023.
