Elderly Woman Dies After Home Robbery in Grayson Avenue
Tragedy struck in Grayson Avenue after an 82-year-old woman was found seriously injured following a robbery. Police were called just after 1:50pm on Saturday 25 March when the elderly victim was discovered lying on the floor of her home.
Incident Took Place Overnight
The attack is believed to have happened under the cover of darkness between the evening of Friday 24 March and early morning on 25 March. The victim was conscious but in a severe condition when emergency services arrived and was rushed to James Paget Hospital for treatment.
Victim Identified as Joy Middleditch
Sadly, the woman, identified as Joy Middleditch, passed away in hospital during the early hours of Monday 27 March, pending official confirmation at an inquest.
Two Teens Arrested Over Murder
On Friday 31 March, police arrested two teenagers aged 14 and 15 on suspicion of murder. They were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning but have since been released on bail. Both are due to answer further inquiries on 7 June 2023.
