Violent Shoplifting Sting Sparks Police Chase in SW18

Two men were arrested after a daring Met Police shoplifting sting turned violent this morning. Cops in plain clothes tried to detain the pair at noon on 2 October, but the suspects fought back fiercely, leaving one officer with a head injury.

The suspects then fled in a car from Stonehouse Street, attempting to shake off the police.

Quick Police Chase Ends in Two Arrests

Just 35 minutes later, officers caught up with the suspects near Melody Road, SW18. Both men were hauled in and now face serious charges:

  • 21-year-old: suspected of grievous bodily harm (GBH), theft, obstruction, and multiple driving offences.
  • 29-year-old: suspected of GBH, theft, obstruction, and taking a vehicle without consent.

The injured officer was treated and released from hospital. The suspects remain in custody while the investigation continues. The area around the crime scene remains sealed off as police gather evidence.
