Woman Busted Over Terrorist Material in South London Sting

A 53-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday morning after turning herself in at a south London police station, suspected of collecting and possessing terrorist material.

Already Under Scrutiny

The woman had been previously arrested on July 25 at her south-west London home. She was suspected of offences under sections 1 and 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006, but was released on bail until mid-October.

New Charges Hit

Her latest arrest relates to extremist social media posts. Police have now charged her under sections 57 and 58 of the Terrorism Act 2006, signalling a serious escalation.

Met’s Counter Terrorism Teams Involved

Police detained the woman under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE). She remains in custody as the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command leads a deepening investigation.
