Tragic Early Morning Crash on A21: Passenger Dies, Driver Flees

At 3.17am on Monday, a serious crash shook the quiet Flimwell crossroads on the A21 London Road in Wadhurst. A single vehicle smashed into a tree just south of the junction, leaving a passenger dead at the scene.

Driver Flees, Police Launch Helicopter Search

After the smash, the driver took off on foot. Police scrambled a helicopter and officers launched an urgent hunt in the area. A 30-year-old Kent man was soon arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Road Reopens, Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

The A21 was closed for hours but reopened by 2pm the same day. Police are still trying to identify the victim and trace next of kin.
