Heart-stopping chaos unfolded on the M4 just after 3am this morning (9/1) when a Mercedes A 200 AMG was spotted blasting at crazy speeds the WRONG way between junctions 14 and 15.
Police in Hot Pursuit on the Wrong Side
Officers caught sight of the rogue motorist near junction 16, hurtling westbound in the eastbound lane 3. Despite several attempts to pull him over, the driver kept smashing oncoming traffic with no sign of stopping.
Miracle No One Was Hit – Driver Finally Caught
The nightmare ride ended just after Leigh Delamere services. The culprit? A man in his 60s from Oxfordshire.
He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, dangerous driving, and driving while unfit. He’s now locked up in Gablecross custody awaiting questioning.
A/Insp Will Ayres said: “We are aware multiple members of the public passed this driver and were understandably exceptionally concerned. Considering the distance travelled by this vehicle on the wrong side of the carriageway, it is a miracle that nobody was injured or involved in a collision. I am pleased that officers were able to bring this to a safe conclusion and a man is currently in custody for questioning.”
