Air Ambulance Scrambles After Quad Bike Crash Closes Sittingbourne Road
A serious collision on Playstool Road, Newington, near Sittingbourne shut the road just before 11pm on Friday night. Emergency services, including the air ambulance, rushed to the scene after a 26-year-old local man was injured in a quad bike crash.
Quad Biker Suffers Head Injuries
The rider suffered head injuries and was quickly treated by pre-hospital care doctors from the air ambulance. Paramedics cut off his clothing at the scene before rushing him to hospital. It’s not yet confirmed if he was airlifted. The man remains in a stable condition at a London hospital.
Medical kit and blankets were scattered across the residential street on the outskirts of Sittingbourne. Serious collision investigators from Kent Police arrived to begin an inquiry, supported by officers from Kent Road Policing.
Crash Involves Parked Car – Police Hunt Witnesses
The crash involved a black Suzuki quad bike and a red Vauxhall Corsa, which was parked and empty at the time. Police are probing whether the quad collided with the car or another vehicle beforehand. CCTV footage from a nearby property is believed to have captured the smash.
A local resident who wished to remain anonymous said: “I heard a massive screeching of metal and a big crash, then all the emergency services turned up.”
Investigation Underway – Police Seek CCTV and Witnesses
Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is handling the case. They are keen to speak to anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area on the night of the crash.
A police spokesperson said: “Information is sought on a collision in Newington which caused serious injuries to a motorist.”
