Double Tragedy Near Border as Two Men Found Dead Hours Apart
Violent Death in Rural Home
On Thursday morning, chaos unfolded near the border when two men were found dead in separate incidents just miles apart. At around 6:30am, Gardaí were called to a rural house in Knockreagh, Lower Broomfield, near Castleblayney. There, they discovered the body of a 60-year-old man who appears to have died violently. A post-mortem is scheduled for Friday to determine the exact cause of death.
Fatal Pedestrian Crash Nearby
Moments after, Gardaí rushed to Ballynacarry bridge, a short distance away, after reports of a collision. Tragically, a man in his late 30s was struck and killed by a car on the N53 road. Gardaí confirmed his death and said a post-mortem will also be carried out on Friday.
Road Closures and Investigation Underway
The tragic events caused the Concession Road near Crossmaglen on the Northern Ireland side to be closed temporarily. Meanwhile, the N53 road on the southern side has since reopened. Gardaí are investigating the possibility that the two deaths are connected but remain cautious.
