Residents of St Leonards are on edge after a brazen, late-night raid at a local convenience store. Sussex Police have launched a frantic appeal following a violent robbery at Wesgo Local on 1 Road, just before 10pm on Monday, August 25, 2025.
Masked Thugs Threaten Shop Worker with Gun
Two masked men stormed into Wesgo Local, terrifying staff with what looked like a firearm. They assaulted an employee and made off with cash and a haul of cigarettes. The shaken victim is getting police support, while the suspects vanished on foot.
Police Reveal Suspects’ Looks and Escape Route
- Suspect One: White male, 17-18 years old, slim, 5ft 10in. Wearing grey and black Nike hoodie, black balaclava, black jeans, grey Nike trainers, plus a single black glove on his right hand.
- Suspect Two: Also white male, late teens, sporting a black hoodie with hood up and black balaclava.
The duo fled on foot across Bexhill Road, then headed up Filsham Road towards St Saviours Road.

Detectives are desperate for witnesses, especially anyone who was in the shop or nearby before or after the crime. They urge residents and businesses to check CCTV footage and stay alert.
