Two men wanted over a burglary sparked a dramatic police chase before scaling a roof to dodge capture in Lee. Their wild rooftop stand-off ended with a tense negotiation and arrests.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

  • Both suspects eventually surrendered and were arrested.

Arrests Made – But Not For Burglary

Met Police Speak Out

“At 9.20 PM on Thursday (January 2), a vehicle was pursued by Met officers in Brightfield Road, Lee. The vehicle was suspected to have been involved in an aggravated burglary. Two men absconded from the vehicle and climbed onto a roof in Hedgley Street. Met officers, alongside the London Fire Brigade, negotiated with both men who were brought safely to ground level. They were both arrested by Kent Police in relation to other offences.”

Investigation Continues

Police are still probing the original burglary and have not ruled out further action against the men in London.
