Fire Rips Through Reading Flats: One Firefighter Hospitalised

Firefighters from four Reading stations raced to Luscinia View this morning after reports of a blaze in a ground-floor flat. The incident, which broke out around 9:30am, saw crews battle flames in a central multi-dwelling block.

Fire Crews Mobilise Quickly

Teams from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Dee Road, and Whitley Wood Fire Stations joined forces to tackle the fire at flat number 12. Firefighters, kitted out with breathing apparatus, doused the flames using a jet and a high-pressure hose reel.

Gas and Electricity Cut Off, Area Cordoned

The crew swiftly isolated gas and electricity to prevent further danger. Meanwhile, police set up a massive cordon, sealing off the block of flats to keep the public safe.

Casualties and Investigation Underway

One firefighter was rushed to hospital by ambulance following the incident. A thorough search of the property was conducted, but it’s not clear if anyone else was found inside. Thames Valley Police’s scene of crime officers have arrived to investigate.
