Police Sergeant Under Fire After Teen Thrown to Ground at Newport Bus Station
Hampshire Police are under the microscope after a shocking incident involving a teenage boy at Newport Bus Station on the Isle of Wight last Friday.
Police Launch Probe Into Incident
Officers were called to Orchard Street at around 4pm on June 8, initially searching for a missing 14-year-old girl. Hampshire Constabulary confirm she has now been found safe and is receiving support from relevant agencies.
Teens Detained During Missing Person Enquiry
During their enquiries, police detained a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of a public order offence. CCTV footage and mobile phone videos have since emerged showing dramatic moments at the scene.
Shocking Footage Shows Sergeant Slam Teen to Ground
In the footage, the detained teen is placed in the back of a police van. Suddenly, attention turns to a second teen who is forcefully thrown to the ground and restrained with a headlock by a uniformed Hampshire Sergeant.
“We can confirm that we have received a complaint about the use of force,” said Hampshire Constabulary. “The circumstances are being investigated by our Professional Standards Department. It would not be appropriate to provide further detail until the facts have been established.”

The teenager involved has been invited to attend a voluntary interview, but the case remains open.Police stress the matter is under thorough investigation.
