Sword Scare at Bromley South Train Station Sparks Rapid Police Response
Chaos was narrowly avoided at Bromley South railway station on the evening of October 18 after police were called about a man wielding a sword on a train. The warning came in at 7.12pm, triggering a swift response from officers.
Plastic Sword Turns Out To Be Harmless
Officers arrived promptly and detained the man. A search revealed the “sword” was actually a plastic replica. No passengers were harmed or in danger during the incident.
“Officers were called to Bromley South railway station at 7.12 pm on 18 October to reports of a man in possession of a sword on a train. Officers attended, and a man was quickly identified and detained. Following a search, this was confirmed to be a plastic sword, and words of advice were given,” a police spokesperson said.
No Arrests, But Police Warn Carrying Fake Weapons Can Cause Panic
The man was not arrested, and no further action was taken since the item was harmless. However, police warned the public to avoid carrying objects that look like weapons to prevent unnecessary panic and distress.
Despite the scare, the rail network experienced no delays or disruptions. Authorities thanked the public for their cooperation and stressed the importance of staying vigilant and reporting suspicious behaviour immediately.
