The violent ordeal unfolded just after 11:30pm on Sunday, April 20. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service tipped off officers about a firearm discharge, prompting a swift police response.

Officers arrived to find the property’s window shattered and two women injured. Thankfully, their wounds are non-life-threatening, and they’ve been taken to hospital for treatment.

A police cordon remains in place as forensic teams scour the scene, confirming evidence of gunfire.

Police Call It a Targeted Attack

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Ronayne is leading the investigation and insists this was no random act of violence.

“We will not tolerate gun crime here in South Yorkshire, and we are working hard to piece together the circumstances of this incident and bring the person responsible to justice,” DCI Ronayne said.

“This kind of mindless violence puts innocent people in danger, and it has no place in our communities.”
