Brutal Attack in Newport: Man’s Jaw Smashed During Night-Out Robbery

A young man was left with a shattered jaw after a savage robbery near Newport bus station in the early hours. Police are hunting witnesses to this shocking assault.

Teen Targeted While Waiting for Bus

Between 1am and 2am, a 19-year-old was heading to catch a bus when a stranger stepped out from Chapel Street and demanded his wallet. When the teen refused, the attacker unleashed a barrage of punches that knocked him to the ground before stealing his wallet.

The victim suffered a fractured jaw, broken nose, swollen eye, and damaged teeth in the vicious attack.

Police Urge Anyone Who Saw Something to Speak Up

“A lot of people were celebrating on Friday night into Saturday morning, so we’re asking for your help,” said PC Tom Wyld. “We want to speak to anyone who saw the suspect or noticed suspicious behaviour. If you have private CCTV or found anything suspicious in your garden or bins, please come forward.”

Arrest Made, Investigation Ongoing

A 28-year-old man has been arrested but was released while inquiries continue. Police continue to appeal for information from eyewitnesses and residents.
