Fatal Hit-and-Run in Sunderland: Cyclist Killed in Early Morning Crash
Just after 1.20 a.m. today, emergency crews rushed to Hylton Road, Sunderland, following a shocking collision between a car and a cyclist.
The victim, a man in his forties, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Driver Flees Scene in Blue BMW
The suspect vehicle – a blue BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – sped off before police arrived. Officers believe the car had passengers.
“We’d encourage the driver or any occupants to make themselves known and hand themselves in to their nearest police station as soon as possible,” Northumbria Police urged.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Authorities are appealing to anyone who saw the crash or was in the Hylton Road area around that time. Drivers with dashcam footage of a blue BMW are especially asked to come forward.
“Your information, no matter how insignificant you believe it is, could be critical in providing the man’s family with the answers they deserve,” police said.
