Detectives have launched an urgent appeal for a crucial witness after a knife was thrown to the ground during a tense police arrest in Hills Terrace, Chatham.

At around 7pm on Friday, 2 May, officers detained an 18-year-old man from Maidstone who was spotted acting suspiciously. During the arrest, a passing motorist approached police, reporting that the suspect had discarded a knife at the scene.

Officers quickly recovered a lock knife, and the teenager was taken into custody. He has since been bailed while investigations continue.
