Essex Cop Repeatedly Knifed in Shocking Rayleigh Attack
An off-duty police officer from Essex was brutally stabbed multiple times in the chest during a sickening attack in Rayleigh on Wednesday evening.
Targeted Assault Near Chelmsford
The officer, who is based in Chelmsford, was at home on Church Road when the suspect knocked on the door before launching the violent assault. He suffered serious knife wounds to his chest, arm, and stomach.
Emergency services treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital. An Essex Police spokesperson stated, “The victim has undergone treatment and remains in a serious but stable condition.”
One Arrest Made, No Wider Threat
Police swiftly arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently in custody. Detectives stressed the attack was targeted and isolated, reassuring the public there is no wider risk to the community.
“We are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident,” the spokesperson confirmed.
