Taxi Robbery at Canvey Island Service Station Shakes Community

Just before midnight last night, a taxi driver was robbed and threatened with a gun at a service station on Long Road. The victim escaped unharmed but left deeply shaken.

Two Arrested in Robbery Probe

Police swiftly arrested two men from Canvey Island, aged 20 and 25, on suspicion of robbery. Both remain in custody as investigations continue.

Police Reassure Public After Rare Incident

Chief Inspector Daniel McHugh said: “Incidents like this are extremely rare but I can reassure residents that we have multiple teams working on this investigation.”

He added, “We don’t believe there is any wider risk to the community. Specialist search officers will be in the area today to carry out further enquiries.”
