Roads Reopen in Portsmouth After Man Attacked with Weapon
Police have reopened roads in Portsmouth following an intense hunt for a weapon used in a brutal attack on a man this morning.
Sniffer Dogs and Officers Hunt for Weapon
Officers from Hampshire Police’s support unit teamed up with specialist sniffer dogs to scour the area. They conducted a meticulous fingertip search, even jumping fences as they combed through the grounds of 1 Academy for Girls, St Mary’s Church, and the Madani Academy.
CCTV Hopes to Snag Attacker
Police are gathering CCTV footage, hoping nearby cameras caught the assault. A security camera near the bus stop, where the victim was attacked, might have captured the suspect making an escape.
Suspects Arrested and Area Cleared
Two men were arrested after fleeing down St Mary’s Road. Police also searched a nearby property believed linked to the incident. Roads closed during the search finally reopened just after 1pm.
Specialist contractors from Colas were called in to clean blood from the pavement. It’s thought the victim stumbled from a nearby property on St Mary’s Road, collapsing at the bus stop.
