Second Man Arrested Over North London Arson Spree Linked to Celebrity
Arrest at Luton Airport
A 26-year-old man was arrested at London Luton Airport around 1:45pm on Saturday, 17 May. He’s suspected of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. The arrest was made by counter-terrorism officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit. The suspect is now in custody at a London police station, where he is being questioned.
Spate of North London Fires
This arrest follows a string of three suspicious fires across North London earlier in May, all linked to properties connected to a high-profile public figure. The incidents occurred as follows:
- 8 May: Vehicle fire in NW5
- 11 May: Fire at the entrance of a property in N7
- 12 May: Residential fire in NW5 during early hours
The Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation due to the high-profile nature of these targets and the public safety risk.
Ongoing Terror Probe
A 21-year-old man has already been charged with three counts of arson with intent to endanger life and has appeared in court. The latest arrest marks a critical second development in this escalating case.
“This is a complex and ongoing investigation. We’re working to establish the full facts and ensure the safety of all those potentially affected,” said a Met Police spokesperson.
