Police Called to Disturbing Scene in Canute Gardens
Officers rushed to Canute Gardens, SE16, at 8.23pm on Wednesday, 1 March, following reports of a welfare concern. Upon forcing entry, they discovered the lifeless body of a 46-year-old woman inside the property.
Man Arrested After Being Found Injured
A 53-year-old man was also found injured at the scene. He was promptly arrested on suspicion of murder. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged but remains in police custody at a south London station.
Homicide Team Launch Full Investigation
The Met’s Specialist Crime Command homicide detectives have been alerted and a crime scene has been established. The man and woman are believed to have known each other. Police inquiries are ongoing as they probe the shocking circumstances surrounding the death.
