Police have smashed a major rural crime ring, recovering ten stolen caravans and a horsebox worth nearly £300,000. The crackdown spanned Sussex and Surrey in a high-impact cross-county operation.
Major Raids Seize Six Caravans Near Horsham
Sussex Police’s Rural Crime Team and Tactical Enforcement Unit kicked off the operation by raiding a rural property near Horsham on Thursday, 15 May. Officers found and seized six stolen caravans at the location.
Four More Caravans and Horsebox Nabbed in Cranleigh
The hunt rolled on with Surrey Police joining forces for a second phase in Cranleigh the same day. There, a further four stolen caravans and a horsebox were recovered, confirmed stolen.
Police Praise Teamwork, Owners to Get Property Back
Detective Chief Inspector Kay Hutchings said: “Proactive action taken earlier this week led to this timely coordinated operation. Our teams successfully identified and seized stolen property valued at nearly £300,000. The caravans will now be returned to their rightful owners, some as far away as Warwickshire and Northumbria.”
