Three Israelis Killed in Brazen Attack at Allenby Bridge
Three Israeli men in their 50s were gunned down in a shocking attack at the Allenby Bridge crossing between Jordan and the occupied West Bank on Sunday, Israeli officials confirmed.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed the attacker drove a truck from the Jordanian side, jumped out, and opened fire at the busy border post.
Gunman Killed, Border Shut
Israeli security forces acted fast and shot the assailant dead on the spot. The IDF is now combing through the truck to check for explosives.
In response, both Israel and Jordan slammed their respective sides of the King Hussein crossing shut. Jordan’s government launched an immediate investigation into the bloody incident.
Critical Crossing Comes Under Attack
The Allenby Bridge is the only official passage between Jordan and the West Bank, situated roughly halfway between Amman and Jerusalem. It’s a vital route where Jordanian vehicles offload goods bound for the West Bank, inside a zone controlled by Israel.
Nathmi Muhanna, head of the Palestinian Border and Crossings Authority, confirmed all traffic at the crossing is now at a standstill following the shooting.
Security Breach Sparks Regional Alarm
This violent attack raises serious concerns over security in this sensitive border region. Both Israeli and Jordanian authorities are expected to conduct thorough investigations and tighten security measures.
Details on the attacker’s identity and motive remain under wraps. International observers are watching closely for any fallout that could shake Israeli-Jordanian relations and impact regional stability.
