Northumbria Police were called just after 3:30 pm following reports of two teenage boys struggling in the river. Emergency services arrived swiftly and managed to rescue the 13-year-old. Sadly, the 14-year-old was found lifeless in the water. Despite desperate attempts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
