Officers Hit While Responding to Crash
Disaster struck on the M27 in Hampshire this morning when two Hampshire Roads Policing officers were rushed to hospital with serious injuries. They were attending a multi-vehicle collision on the westbound carriageway.
Tragically, while crossing the eastbound side to investigate a second collision sparked by rubbernecking, the officers were hit by a moving vehicle.
Air Ambulances Scramble to Scene
Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulances were swiftly dispatched. The helicopter medical team treated both officers at the scene for serious injuries before rushing them to hospital.
Investigation Underway, Motorists Urged to Avoid Area
Police launched a full investigation into the incident. The M27 remains closed in the affected area, and drivers are urged to steer clear and find alternative routes.
