North Yorkshire Police confirmed up to two dozen emergency vehicles swarmed the scene. Authorities have warned the public to avoid the area as firefighters and police comb the fields. A police helicopter equipped with thermal imaging is reportedly searching for a missing person believed to have bailed out of the aircraft.

Residents Report Fire and Possible Bail-Out Before Crash

Witnesses say the privately-owned helicopter caught fire before crashing. A local fabrication firm owner told us the pilot was alive, but at least one passenger may be missing. “I heard that someone bailed out before it went down,” he said.

“The helicopter was on fire. The pilot was still alive, but one or two others might have jumped out. Police helicopters were searching for someone,” he explained.

Nearby Rivers Edge Holiday Home & Lodge Park workers described the scene as “shocking.” One employee confirmed people from the site helped at the crash but declined to give further details. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service dispatched an air ambulance but has not revealed casualty numbers.
