A major police operation kicked off in Christchurch last night after a woman went missing in terrifying circumstances. A lifeboat and crew pulled the woman from the sea following a frantic two-hour search involving the Search and Rescue team and a police helicopter.

Tragically, the 43-year-old woman later died in hospital. Emergency services rushed to Medford Quay just after 8pm on Thursday, responding to a call from the woman’s father.

Massive Search Launched

Police flooded the area with multiple units, scouring the quay and nearby spots. The police helicopter was scrambled, while RNLI crews and the coastguard combed the waters for any sign of the missing woman.

Volunteers Join the Hunt

Local Search and Rescue volunteers also swung into action, supporting the official teams in the desperate search effort. Despite their hard work, the woman was sadly pronounced dead after being pulled from the water.
