Hamda Salah, 29, an Egyptian asylum seeker, has been locked up for three years at Newcastle Crown Court after a bizarre and disturbing series of incidents in June.

Trousers Down and Demanding Sex

Around 7pm one evening, Salah knocked on a stranger’s door in Newcastle city with his trousers down, boxers fully on show. He brazenly asked the woman for sex. When she shut him down, he tried to push his way into her home. Fortunately, she slammed the door in his face before he could get in.

Night of Mayhem in Another Family Home

Not done, Salah then broke into a nearby family’s house later that night. Inside, he:

  • Slept in the man of the house’s bed, wearing his shorts
  • Urinated on the bed
  • Smash photo frames
  • Stole £140-£160 from a money box

Sentence and Harsh Fallout

Salah admitted attempted trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, treated as exposure, and burglary. He’s been added to the sex offenders register for life and slapped with a sexual harm prevention order. On top of that, he faces automatic deportation as soon as he’s released.

This latest crime is the final straw after two prior suspended sentences. In 2024, he was punished for sexually assaulting a woman and showing porn to lone female train passengers, leading to a ban on speaking to unknown women on public transport. He also has another assault conviction on his record.

Recorder Tony Hawks, the judge, highlighted the automatic deportation saying it was a necessary consequence of Salah’s criminal behaviour.
