Rail Tragedy Near Surbiton Station Claims Life of Railway Worker
Officers rushed to the tracks near Surbiton railway station at 11:39am this morning (9 February) after reports of a casualty on the line.
Despite swift response from London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade, a 30-year-old man from Hampshire was sadly declared dead at the scene.
Family Informed, Investigation Underway
The man’s family have been notified and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said: “This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the very sad death of a railway worker. Our deepest condolences are with the man’s family.”
Police are teaming up with the Office of Rail and Road and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch to get to the bottom of what happened.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Langley added: “We are conducting a full and thorough investigation. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.”
