Major A3 Chaos Coming Near Wisley – Contraflow Hits Both Directions

Drivers brace yourselves! A major contraflow system is launching next week on the A3 near Wisley. This will affect both northbound and southbound carriageways between M25 Junction 10 and Ockham Park roundabout.

What’s Changing on the A3?

  • Northbound: Three lanes open for northbound traffic, but only one lane for southbound vehicles.
  • Southbound: Two lanes running for southbound traffic only.

This 24/7 contraflow will stay in place until the end of the year, causing ongoing disruption.

Important Rules for HGV Drivers

  • Northbound: Heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) are banned from using the far right-hand lane (Lane 3).
  • Southbound, past M25 exit:
    • Lane 1 (inside lane) is for HGVs, Ockham Park roundabout traffic, RHS Wisley visitors, and southbound A3 traffic.
    • Lane 2 (middle lane) is for non-HGVs heading towards Guildford only. No exit at Ockham Park here.

Weekend Closure Warning – Plan Ahead!

  • The northbound A3 exit slip and M25 clockwise (westbound) entry slip at Junction 10 will close from 9pm Friday 9 May until 6am Monday 12 May 2025.
  • The main A3, M25, and all other slip roads will stay open during this time.

Motorists should expect delays and build in extra travel time around the affected areas.
