Aldi Slashes Back-to-School Costs with £100 Voucher Giveaway

As UK families brace for the back-to-school rush, Aldi is stepping up to ease the financial pressure. The supermarket giant is handing out £100 Aldi vouchers to parents across September to help cover the cost of essentials. On top of that, Aldi is donating £20,000 to schools, nurseries, and children’s charities through its community platform, Neighbourly.

Parents Shell Out Over £100 Per Child

Research by Aldi digs into the real cost of heading back to school. The average parent spends around £100 on basics like new shoes, pencil cases, and lunch boxes alone. But that’s just the start. Packed lunches add up to £23 a week, and after-school clubs weigh in at roughly £90. The expenses stretch throughout the year, straining family budgets.

Aldi’s Promise: Help Families Stretch Their Pounds

“We know the back-to-school period can be a real pinch point for family finances, especially after having to contend with keeping the kids entertained during the summer school holidays,” said Liz Fox, Aldi UK’s National Sustainability Director. “Our new fund aims to support parents in making their money go further.”

The Back-to-School Fund is part of Aldi’s wider mission to make fresh, healthy food affordable for everyone. Their partnership with Neighbourly means customers can also chip in by donating at local Aldi community points.

How to Get Your Hands on an Aldi Voucher

Steve Butterworth, CEO of Neighbourly, praised Aldi’s initiative as a “vital lifeline” for families needing extra support. Interested parents should email [email protected] by September 30, 2024. One hundred lucky applicants will nab £100 vouchers throughout the month.

With the cost-of-living crunch hitting hard, Aldi’s Back-to-School Fund couldn’t come at a better time to help families across the UK manage the costly start to the school year.
