Firefighters scrambled to Woolacombe Road in Kidbrooke after a fierce blaze tore through a semi-detached house. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters battled the flames that gutted most of the first floor and completely destroyed the roof.

One woman managed to escape the burning property before crews arrived. London Ambulance Service treated her at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters Bring Situation Under Control
The fire brigade was alerted at 3:40 pm, with teams from East Greenwich and Lee Green stations tackling the inferno. They got the fire under control by 6:01 pm, preventing further damage.
