Dramatic Rescue Mission! Coastguard Helicopter Airlifts Seriously Ill Patient from Guernsey

Emergency Airlift from Channel Island

A Coastguard search and rescue helicopter swooped into action on Saturday evening, executing a life-saving medical evacuation from Guernsey. The twin-engine chopper, Rescue 175, based at Lee on the Solent, was scrambled shortly after 6pm.

Critical Transfer to Southampton

The four-man crew was tasked with airlifting a seriously ill patient from Guernsey Hospital to Southampton General Hospital. The helicopter lifted off just after 7.15pm, racing against time to get the patient the urgent care they needed.

Seamless Handover on the Mainland

Upon landing at Lordshill around 8.30pm, a coastguard search and rescue team was on hand to assist with a swift transfer to an awaiting ambulance. The operation was closely coordinated by UK Coastguard staff based at Fareham, ensuring a smooth and speedy rescue.
