Salon Owner’s Dream Drowned by Cannabis Factory Leak in Croydon

Abigail Owusu’s thriving salon, Abi’s Hair & Beauty Spa in Croydon, has been left utterly devastated after a flood caused by a suspected cannabis factory above her shop. The disaster hit on the morning of Thursday, February 8, when Owusu arrived to find her business underwater.

£100k Investment Washed Away in Water Damage

After a decade building her salon, Owusu describes it as her “baby.”</strong She was expecting a minor electrical fault when the shutters and illuminated sign were off – but the scene inside was far worse.

Water inundated the entire shop, destroying tens of thousands of pounds worth of equipment. Owusu, a mother of three, had poured almost £100,000 into the business. “It’s my existence, this is my baby, I lived for it,” she said, devastated by the extent of the damage.

Fire Brigade Contain Cannabis Factory Flood

The London Fire Brigade tackled the flooding at the suspected cannabis factory above Abi’s salon on Brighton Road, Purley. They managed to contain the leak by early afternoon but the damage left Owusu’s salon in ruins, facing a long road to reopening.

Insurance Delays, Police Find Bags of Cannabis

Adding insult to injury, Owusu’s insurance company won’t assess the damage until Tuesday. She blasted the delay: “What kind of nonsense is this? The whole place is flooded, are we going to wait until Tuesday for anything to get done?”

Meanwhile, police have seized 11 huge bags of cannabis from the flat above, sparking serious concerns about illegal operations in residential areas posing risks to innocent neighbours.

As police investigations continue, Owusu and her loyal customers are left reeling, hoping for a swift recovery from this shocking blow.
