Firefighters Use Cutters to Free Driver

An early morning smash in Widley, near Portsmouth, saw Hampshire firefighters rush to the scene with specialist cutting gear. Crews from Cosham station had to remove the car’s roof to rescue a female driver trapped inside.

Driver Immobilised and Airlifted to Hospital

Using powerful cutters, the team carefully lifted the roof off to free the woman. She was then placed on a spinal board and immobilised to prevent further injury.

Woman Transferred to QA Hospital

After being stabilised, the casualty was handed over to South Central Ambulance Service. She was swiftly taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for emergency treatment.
