Firefighters Called to Blaze at Alresford Fire Station – Talk About Irony!
Fire crews in Winchester were left red-faced after being called out to a fire – at their own fire station!
Flames Break Out in Drying Room
The blaze erupted just after 10.30am on Sunday, May 14th, in the drying room used to air firefighting kit. Pumps from Winchester, Hightown, and Alresford rushed to the scene.
Swift Action Keeps Station Running
Firefighters deployed water jets, hose reels, and four sets of breathing apparatus to tackle the fire. Despite the drama, the Alresford station remains operational as usual.
“Our resilience planning helps us to continue to protect our communities,” a spokesperson said.
Shared Building with Police – No Injuries
The fire station shares premises with Hampshire Police but no staff were inside when the fire broke out. Everyone has been safely accounted for.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are set to investigate the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, fire crews are back to business as usual – ready to face any blaze, even the unexpected ones at their own doorstep!
